International Advisory Council Members
Chairman: Joseph E. Kutz, M.D. is a co-founder of the Kleinert,
Kutz and Associates Hand Care Center, PLLC, Louisville, Ky., is
an internationally recognized hand and micro surgeon. Dr. Kutz is
a clinical professor of surgery (plastic and reconstructive surgery)
and clinical professor of surgery (hand) at the University of Louisville
School of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery
and Certification of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
He is affiliated with 15 hospitals. Dr. Kutz has 78 published papers
on surgery, which include co-author of a number of text book chapters
and Grabb's Encyclopedia of Flaps. He is a member of 27 U.S. and
international professional organizations, and has received a number
of awards and honors including Ephraim McDowell Physician of the
Year award. Dr. Kutz has received 39 special appointments including
chairman, board of trustees, Spalding University and medical staff
president, Jewish Hospital. He received his Doctor of Medicine from
the University of Michigan Medical School and has more than 35 years
surgery experience. The Kleinert, Kutz and Associates Hand Care
Center sees approximately 8,500 new patients each year, performs
approximately 6,800 surgical procedures per year and has trained
more than 600 fellows from 35 nations.
Vice Chairman & Advisor of Technology Development: Academician
and Professor Boris E. Paton, Kiev, Ukraine, President of The
National Academy of Science of Ukraine since 1962, and co-author
of the live biological tissue bonding technology patent and a developer
of the technology. Professor Paton is head of the E.O. Paton Institute
of Electric Welding, chairman of International Association Welding,
president of the International Association of Academies of Sciences,
honorary president of the International Engineering Academy, member
of the European Academy and the International Academy of Technological
Sciences, an honorary of the International Academy of Science, Education,
Industry, and Art, International Astronauts Academy and Roman Club
as well as a foreign member of scientific and technical societies
of many countries. He is also a member of the International Committee
on Scientific and Technical Development of the CIS countries, head
of the Inter-State Scientific Council on Welding and related technologies,
chairman of the Coordination Council of Inter-State Program "Highly
Reliable Pipeline Transport," a member of the board of directors
of the International Fuel-Power Association and board of trustees
of the International Foundation of Nuclear Safety. Professor Paton
has been awarded many state orders and medals from a number of countries.
Advisor - Tissue Bonding Development: Academician and Professor
Vladimir K. Lebedev, Chief of Department and Advisor to the
Director of E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute, co-author of
live biological tissue bonding technology patent and a developer
of the technology. Professor Lebedev earned his Ph.D. in technical
sciences from the Moscow Institute of Energetics. He is an academician
and a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and
has received the Lenin Prize, USSR State Prize and the Ukraine State
Prize for his work and investigations in the sphere of welding technologies.
Advisor - Vascular Surgery and Transplantation: Ihor I. Huk,
Doctor of Medicine, Vienna, Austria, attended the University of
Vienna and University of Chicago and did his postgraduate studies
at the University of Houston. He received specialty training with
the American Society Parental and Enteral Nutrition in Aspen during
1981/82 and has more than 18 years surgery experience. He is a clinical
professor of surgery and director of the Vascular Laboratory, Department
of Vascular Surgery, University of Vienna with special training
in organ transplant surgery and in vascular surgery (clinical and
experimental research). Dr. Huk has performed 450 kidney and liver
transplant surgeries since 1984. He is a member of the Austrian
Society of Surgery, Austrian Society of Angiology, Austrian Society
of Vascular Surgery and Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Huk has
published more than 170 medical papers in national and international
professional publications in both English and German.
Advisor - Human General Surgery: Professor Michael P. Zakharash,
Doctor of Medical Sciences, Kiev, Ukraine, graduate of the Vianitza
N.I. Pirogov Medical Institute, has more than 30 years of surgery
experience and is the head of department of the Military-Medical
Department of the Security Service of Ukraine. He is the head of
chair and No. 1 chair of the National A. A. Bogomoltetz Medical
University, member of the Collegium of the Health Ministry of Ukraine
and head of the examination body of the Pharmacological Committee
of Ukraine. Dr. Zakharash is a member of the National Academy of
Sciences of Ukraine. He was awarded the honor of 1st degree Health
Care Organizer in 1982 and 1st degree Physician-Surgeon in 1983.
Additionally, he has received honorary degrees of Excellent Participation
of Health Care in 1982, honored physician of Ukraine in 1987 and
awarded 3rd degree Order of Merit in 1998.
Advisor - Laparoscopy Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology: Professor
Ronald L. Levine, M.D., Louisville, Ky., Department of Obstetrics
& Gynecology, University of Louisville. Dr. Levine is internationally
recognized in the field of laparoscopy, obstetrics and gynecology.
He attended the University of Denver with post-graduate studies
at University of Louisville School of Medicine and residency at
University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Levine has more
than 30 years experience in his field. He has served as chairman
of the board of governors, University of Louisville, Medical School
Alumni Association and program chairman of the Advanced Gynecologic
Endoscopy course, University of Louisville. He served on the board
of trustees of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists,
president of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists
and has served on the board of directors of the Accreditation Council
for Gynecologic Endoscopy from 1994 through 2000. Dr. Levine has
14 hospital and professional appointments and has been the recipient
of 6 academic appointments. He is a member of a number of professional
associations and has received several industry and academic awards
including Outstanding Teaching Professor, University of Louisville
Department of OB/GYN. Dr. Levine has conducted 86 national and international
presentations to professional societies, has 5 named lectureships,
24 published papers, 5 abstracts, co-author of 2 books, 8 book chapters
and 2 scientific exhibits.
Advisor - Research: Professor Dr. Yury A. Furmanov, Kiev,
Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences from the Kiev Medical University,
since 1971 has been chief of the Experimental Surgery Department
of the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery, Academy of
Medical Sciences of Ukraine, a member of the National Academy of
Sciences of Ukraine. He is a co-author of the live biological tissue
bonding technology patent and a developer of the technology. In
1991 he was awarded the title of Professor of Surgery and in 1992,
the title of Honored Scientist of Ukraine. Dr. Furmanov organized
a Medical-Engineering Department at the International Solomon University
in Kiev and is Dean of Department. He has published 130 scientific
works and is co-author of 20 inventions and patents.
Advisor - Pediatric Surgery: Dr. Bruce Henderson, M.D.,
Corpus Christi, Texas, is a nationally recognized board certified
pediatric surgeon, head of Children's Surgical Services, chairman
of Surgical Services Committee and surgeon-in-chief at Driscoll
Children's Hospital. He has more than 30 years experience in pediatric
surgery. Dr. Henderson received his bachelor of medicine and bachelor
of surgery from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Scotland. During
his medical residency he was senior assistant surgical resident
at the Medical Research Institute, University of Alberta Hospital,
followed by an appointment as chief surgical resident at Miami Valley
Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Henderson received teaching appointments
as instructor of pediatric surgery at the University of Cincinnati,
assistant in surgery at Harvard University, Boston, and clinical
assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical School. He
is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (surgical section)
and 7 other local, state and national professional associations,
and has published 15 medical papers in national and international
professional medical publications.
Advisor - General Surgery: Dr. Hoyt E. Allen, M.D., Kaufman,
Texas, graduated Cum Laude with Distinction in Biological Sciences
from Dartmouth College and his Doctor of Medicine from the University
of Virginia Medical School. Dr. Allen has an extensive background
in gastrointestinal, pancreatic, biliary, colorectal, breast surgery
and chronic wound management. He has more than 15 years surgery
experience and has been elected chief of surgery and chief of staff
for the Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman for the year 2001. He is
a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, fellow of the American
College of Surgeons, member of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society,
and lectures publicly on breast disease and cancer, colon disease
and cancer screening.
Advisor - Post Surgery: Dr. Abimial Perez, Corpus Christi,
Texas, graduated from La Universidad del Valle, Columbia, served
his internship at the Hospital of Barranquilla, Columbia. He was
the house physician and surgical assistant at Northwest Hospital
in Chicago from 1975-1977, the surgical assistant at the Emergency
Trauma Center at the Terre Haute General Hospital from 1977-1981
and a member of the Associates Faculty of the Terre Haute Center
for Medical Education from 1978-1979. Dr. Perez received his specialty
training for family practice at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago.
He is family practice board certified and has been in private practice
more than 15 years. He is a member of 6 local, state and national
associations and a staff member of 7 local and regional hospitals.
